RM54 million for rubber replanting in Sarawak


The Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) intends to spend RM54 million on rubber replanting programme in Sarawak this year. A total area of 4,000 hectares will be targeted for the purpose , when identified smallholders are granted RM 13, 500 per hectare each.

RISDA reports that a total of 2,500 hectares will be located in Bentong, Sarikei, Saratok, Sri Aman, Lundu and Samarahan and 800 hectares in Mukah and Kapit. The remaining 700 hectares will be located in Miri.

In 2012, RISDA managed to implement the replanting programme in 4,200. hectares out of the targeted 4,400 hectares. The group expects to achieve their goal by September.(RJA)
