Yokohama Rubber allies with Yokohama Tire Vietnam

In Sept. 4, 2012, Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it would ally with the Yokohama Tire Vietnam Company to improve the latter company’s tire production and marketing operation in Vietnam. The Yokohama Tire Vietnam Inc. (YTVI), a 100%-owned subsidiary of Yokohama Rubber will be associating YTVC as to the agreement of the 3 investors who have decided this unification last August.

This is not new to the YTVC as it was founded by the joint venture of 2 companies, the Southern Rubber Industry Company (CASUMINA), a major local manufacturer of tyres and Mitsubishi Corporation by Yokohama Rubber in 1997. Since the integration, YTVC started to manufacture bias tyres for light trucks as well as motorcycles which have improved the reputation of Yokohama Rubber in Vietnam.

On the other hand, the YTVI in Vietnam has been built in June 2006 in Binh Duong Province near the city of Ho Chi Minh by the Yokohama Rubber as answer to the demand of the country for tyres. In about 2 years, specifically in February 2008, the company has started to manufacture and market bias tyres for mini-spare tires, light trucks, motorcycles and industrial-automobiles.

With the Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. becoming allies with the Yokohama Tire Vietnam Inc., Yokohama Rubber improves far-off its tire manufacturing and marketing operations in Vietnam, boosting the company’s competitiveness in the local market. It also plans to centralize the YTVI and strengthen it to become the base supplier of mini-spares and tyres globally while keeping up a good relationship with Mitsubishi Corporation and CASUMINA.
