Yokohama hoists tyre output in Russia

YOKOHAMA Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that the company will is increasing the annual production capacity of its Russian production and distribution subsidiary Yokohama R.P.Z. from current 1.4 million to 1.6 million tyres.

With an investment of JPY500 million, the capacity increase and full production will commence in 2014.

Yokohama’s tyre sales in Russia has reached 3 million a year, which is more than double of its local production capacity.

The decision of this time is aimed at resolving this gap as much as possible and promoting “local production for local consumption.”

Yokohama R.P.Z. was founded in December 2008 for the purpose of manufacturing tyres in Russia. The company produces C. drive2 passenger car tyres and Ice Guard iG35 stud tyres for passenger cars with internal diameters from 13 to 18 inches.

The tyres are being sold in Russia and will soon be exported to Europe in the future.

The company initially scheduled the full production this year. Annual production capacity of Yokohama R.P.Z. will be expanded to 1.6 million tyres in 2014.
