Polymers firm Trelleborg Group has, through its business area Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, signed an agreement to acquire Germany-based company MG Silikon, an entity within Saint-Gobain Group. The company specialises in sealing solutions for aerospace and industrial applications. Closing of the transaction is subject to approvals from relevant authorities. Terms were not disclosed.
The company has its head office and manufacturing in Lindau, Germany, and has annual sales of approximately SEK 120 M.
“The aerospace industry is recovering strongly after the pandemic, and is expected to show healthy growth for several years to come. With the acquisition of MG Silikon, we increase the production capacity of airframe seals and strengthen our offering in sealing solutions for cabin interiors, which is a strategic growth area for us. Our offering for cabin interiors has been limited, but the acquisition creates new and exciting opportunities for us,” says Peter Hahn, President of the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area.
“The company also manufactures engineered seals for general industry, such as building and construction, and the rail industry. This acquisition complements us in several important areas, and we foresee synergies in both sales and supply chains,” concludes Peter Hahn.
The transaction is expected to be finalised in the fourth quarter of 2022.
