Synthos S.A. opens its new SSBR rubber plant in Poland

Synthos-S.A.Synthos S.A. opens its new modern SSBR rubber production plant last September 3.

The rubber plant costs PLN 568 million (EUR169.5 million). EU funding gave PLN147 million (EUR34.82 million) to cover some costs.

The new plant is set to produce 90 thousand metric tons of rubber annually.

The purpose of the investment is the development of the rubber portfolio of Synthos S.A. by introducing a new, innovative product – SSBR rubber. It is used to make modern tires with improved performance, which also help save fuel and have better grip, thus decreasing braking distances.

These characteristics significantly improve the safety and comfort of driving. Available analyses clearly show that high performance tires with improved properties and better characteristics are more popular than their traditional counterparts.

On the basis of acquired technology from Goodyear, Synthos has created and continues to develop its own research programme in next generations of high quality SSBR rubber. This is achieved by the R&D Centre for new technologies, established in 2010.
