Rubber farmers to receive cash incentives

Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Nattawut Saikuar said that members of rubber cooperatives will receive cash incentives, as what the Government promised, on Oct. 19 for the increase of the rubber prices due to the stabilisation scheme.

The Minister assured the rubber farmers during a meeting that they will receive money from the Government.

The rubber farmers are demanding to the government to speed up their payments for the rubber that was sold to the Rubber Estate Organisation last August 17 to October 3.

They claimed that the delayed payments caused liquidity problems at some cooperatives.

Nattawut has assured the rubber farmers to receive a payment once the Agriculture and Agriculture Cooperatives Bank hands over the fund to the REO which is worth 5 million baht. He also promised to the rubber farmers that their proposal regarding the scrapping of the rubber purchase scheme will be put into consideration as the rubber farmers are calling to cancel the purchase programme and offer soft loans to rubber cooperatives.
