Rubber could boost rural economy in Indian state, says board commissioner

latex2RECENTLY, Rubber Board of India (RBI) joint commissioner (rubber production), Sunny Varghes addressed farmers at the Maj Rubber Nursery and Plantation (MRNP) in Tarajulisaid, saying that rubber could boost the rural economy of Arunachal Pradesh.

Rubber is a cash crop that could transform the rural economy of the northeast Indian state, he said.

He shared some advice on rubber, saying that rubber plant produces latex in six to seven years, and 500 plants cultivated in one hectare of land at a cost of Rs 2.4 lakh could generate Rs 2.5 lakh annually.
