Batu Gajah may soon have a new glove manufacturing factory. The RM800-million project, a joint venture between the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) and Kamunting-based Professional Latex Sdn Bhd, is to be built in five phases over ten years on an 18.3-ha area at the Bemban II Industrial Estate in Sungai Terap, Batu Gajah.
The first phase is scheduled from 2023 to 2024 and will involve an investment of RM160 million. The project, when fully completed would have installed 80 production lines that would produce an estimated 24 billion gloves/year. The projected is expected to generate some 4,000 jobs.
