Portage Precision Polymers opens silicone compounding plant, HQ in Ohio

PPPPORTAGE Precision Polymers (PPP) a US custom rubber and silicone mixing firm, opens its new 17,680-sq ft silicone compound manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters in Mogadore, Ohio.

The state-of-the-art facility, with a capacity of 20 million pounds of custom silicone mixing, features a 200-gallon Sigma Blade Tilt mixer and 2TE Twin Screw Dump Extruder for small- and large-batch mixing; It also houses a full-service research laboratory for silicone testing and development.

Doug Hartley, President and CEO comments that Good stability, temperature resistance and a wide range of colours make silicone compounds a popular choice for present-day construction, automotive, electrical, medical, aerospace and industrial applications.

This, he says, drives the demand for silicone. The new silicone facility and headquarters will enable PPP to utilise its longstanding industry relationships with global raw materials suppliers and purchasers to meet the clear demand for quality silicone compounds, adds Erick Sharp, Plant Manager.

He says that the new Mogadore facility will enable them to offer current and prospective customers a one-stop shop for their elastomer compounding needs, whether they require rubber compounds, silicone compounds, or both.
