NR Production To Reach 10.8 million tonnes

Production of natural rubber by members of the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) will reach 10.8 million tonnes in 2012. This is a 4.9% rise from 10.325 million tonnes produced in the previous year. The new data comes from the June edition of Natural Rubber Trends and Statistics published by the ANRPC.
The upward revision results from a higher anticipated output of NR by Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia. NR production for Indonesia is now anticipated to improve at the rate of 8.2% to 3.261 million tonnes as compared to the previously reported
marginal fall at the rate of 0.4% to 3 million tonnes in 2012. Vietnam has revised the its production for year 2012 to 915,000 tonnes as compared to 860,000 tonnes which reported a month ago. The tremendous growth is supported by an increase in tapped areas as reported by the country.

In the case of Malaysia, the country has also revised the NR production to 1.0 million tonnes in 2012, with a year-on-year growth rate of 0.4%.
For imports, the ANRPC’s members have imported 1.083 million tonnes in Q2 2012, an increase of 32.9%. Also, the region’s imports have achieved a notable increase of 51.4%t in June 2012 versus a negative growth of 7.6% in the same period
