MOMENTIVE Performance Materials, the exclusive global licensee of General Electric-branded sealants, has obtained a US patent for the all-silicone Air & Water Barrier (AWB) system by GE.
The AWB system, which includes SEC2500 SilShield AWB (silicone coating), GE SilPruf (silicone sealant) and GE UST2200 UltraSpan (silicone rubber flashing, is an enduring option for an energy-efficient, waterproof barrier around a building envelope due to its silicone makeup.
The system’s silicone is resistant to UV, stable under a broad range of temperatures and permanently flexible. Moreover, it has the ability to withstand weather and atmospheric conditions for decades without degradation, enabling it to remain waterproof, intact and airtight.
