IMPORT of rubber must be banned, according to the the Executive Committee of the Rubber Board. Alternatively, it proposed that duty free imports against advance license must be suspended. Moreover, it proposed that the import duty should be increased by 25% without imposing any cap on the maximum limit.
The Union and the State Governments were also urged to implement a scheme for joint procurement of rubber, and that the purchase tax of 5% be reduced.
