A new set of standards will be set for the import and export of timbre and rubber.
The standard, to be announced by the Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry by year-end includes plywood and SMR 20 rubber grade.
Its Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the new standard would help ensure the quality and competitiveness of both commodities.
He was speaking to reporters after the Malaysia Timber Industry Board’s Hari Raya Open house here today.
