Glove maker Ansell expects to lift earnings next year

MEDICAL gloves and condoms maker Ansell, which has a factory in Malaysia, says it expects to lift its earnings in the 2013 financial year and remains on the hunt for more acquisitions.

Ansell recently reported a 6% rise in net profit to A$130 million for the year to June 30, compared with A$122.7 million in the previous financial year. Sales were flat at A$1.2 billion.

Ansell said it expected its earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) to grow in the low double-digits in 2012/13, with earnings per share to also show growth in the mid-single to low double-digit range.

Ansell said its EBIT guidance excluded any contributions expected to flow from its recently acquired French glove manufacturer Comasec.

It said given the difficult global economic conditions, forecasting was more difficult than usual.
