Evonik releases new pollutant-free resin

German specialty chemicals maker Evonik released a new silicone resin: the Silikophen AC 950. The high-temperature resistant, high-solids silicone resin is also Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs)-free.

The AC 950 can be used in enclosed spaced because it doesn’t release harmful chemicals while curing. The resin also produces less smoke and has less VOC content than traditional bale-cure silicone resins. This makes the AC950 a good choice for eco-friendly coating systems.

Silikophen AC 950 also cures at ambient temperature by using a catalyst, widening its possible applications. Low curing temperature also makes the resin an eco-friendly and energy-saving choice against high-temperature resistant coatings.

“Oven drying at high temperatures has natural limits,” explains Kirstin Schulz, marketing director for industrial coatings. “Our ambient-curing systems enable coating of large objects such as in industrial plants for water treatment or for energy generation.” She added.
