Dubai Sustainable City contract awarded to RWI

Rubber World Industries (RWI) will supply more than AED2.4mn-worth of building materials to Dubai’s new Sustainable City.

The closed-cell rubber insulation manufacturer was awarded the contract by Diamond Developers for the AED1.1bn project in Dubailand.

The development will be composed of 500 villas, a school, university, planetarium, country club, community centre, coffee shops and other retail units and is set for completion in 2015.

The community will also have a green belt with 20,000 trees and a 5,000ft2 canal, a 600,000ft2 solar park and a water management system that will recycle 100% of waste water.

The project’s consultant firm is Al Ajmi Engineering Consultants, contracting work is being handled by Jeet Contracting, and MEP works by Sun Middle East Electro Mechanical Works LLC.

“The Sustainable City project has positioned itself as one of the country’s leading green development projects. Its completion is expected to inspire the development of similar environmentally friendly communities in the UAE and the rest of the region,” said Rizwan Shaikhani, managing director, RWI.

“Looking to play a major role in its completion, RWI will be supplying the project with its diverse portfolio of high quality rubber insulation products, including its Gulf-O-Flex line, premium-quality rubber insulation materials used for air-conditioning, refrigeration and heating made out of the best raw materials from Europe and the US.”

RWI is also supplying materials to mega projects in Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Iran helping the company to triple in size during 2014.
