Dow Corning has added a new food-grade silicone antifoam emulsion to its product line. The new antifoam, offered through the company’s XIAMETER® brand, not only knocks down foam but also provides excellent antifoaming persistency in multiple food and beverage applications. XIAMETER® AFE-1530 Antifoam Emulsion complies with U.S. FDA regulations and European Community directives and is accepted for use in kosher and halal foods.

It also is approved by the U.S. EPA for use in pesticide formulations. Consequently, the product is suitable for use in a wide range of foam control applications, including food and beverage processing, chemical processing, agricultural chemicals, and wastewater treatment. Based on proven silicone foam control technology from Dow Corning, the dilutable 30% active silicone formulation is highly effective at low concentrations and is easy to use in both hot and cold systems.

“In commercializing XIAMETER AFE-1530 Antifoam Emulsion, we were able to leverage tried-and-true technology to give our customers a reliable new silicone alternative for food-grade foam-control – an alternative that is economical and high-performing,” said Dow Corning Product Market Analyst Don Buchalski. “This is a very versatile product with an excellent combination of knockdown and persistency benefits,” Buchalski said. “And we believe it will be a great addition to our already extensive range of silicone antifoams.”
