DOC sets up additional tariffs on Chinese tyre imports

The additional tariffs set on Chinese consumer tyre imports by the United States Department of Commerce (DOC) are effective Dec. 1, 2014, according to a notice published in the Dec. 1 edition of the Federal Register.

The tariffs are retroactive 90 days from Dec. 1. This means Chinese consumer tyres imported on or after Sept. 2, 2014, are subject to the additional duties.

The DOC imposed the following tariffs in addition to the existing 4% tariffs on consumer tyres imported from China:

  • GITI Tire (Fujian) Co. Ltd. (and certain cross-owned companies): 17.69%
  • Shandong Yongsheng Rubber Group Co. Ltd.: 81.19%
  • All other Chinese exporters: 15.69%
