Bridgestone announces debut in agri tyre market

Bridgestone

Bridgestone used the Cereals Event to announce its entry into the agricultural tyre market.

Previously, the company has been represented in agriculture by its sister brand Firestone, which it says has taken care of the high volume market and will continue to do so.

Now, the firm wants to compete with the premium tyre manufacturers, i.e. Michelin and Trelleborg by introducing Bridgestone as its premium tyre brand.

Currently the biggest tyre manufacturer in the world, Bridgestone reckons it has got what it takes to mix it with the big boys with its very high flexation-only range of tyres.

According to the firm, these VF tyres, compared to standard tyres, can run up to 40mph (65kph) on the road with 40 per cent more load at only 10psi. Cleverly, these tyres do not require special rims to be fitted and can be put on standard rims.

Nine sizes will initially be available for this year with rim sizes from 28-42in and section widths from 600-710mm (24-28in). Expect more sizes and combine tyres next year.
