Leading tyre maker PT Bridgestone Tire Indonesia, a subsidiary of Japan’s Bridgestone Corp., has targeted to sell 1 million new tyres that the company claims are environmentally friendly.

Frankie Paduli, assistant director of sales and marketing for Bridgestone Tire Indonesia, said his company would promote the new products — Ecopia EP150 and EMPV — mainly to retail consumers through 200 outlets and 1,500 tyre shops in the country, while approaching vehicle companies at the same time.

“Our new products are able to save a vehicle’s fuel consumption up to 4 percent. We are convinced that the sales will increase, because the public is becoming aware of the government’s plan to raise the fuel price,” he said, as quoted by kontan.co.id on Saturday.

Frankie added that the company made the EP150 tyre in 22 sizes, while the MPV1 only came in three. He said the EP150 was priced from Rp 430,000 (US$36.25) to Rp 1.2 million per tyre, while the MPV1’s selling price ranged from Rp 500,000 to Rp 1 million. He acknowledged that the price range was 5 percent higher than the company’s competitors.
