Bluestar Silicones has launched Silbione LSR 4755 PF, a PFAS-free, self-lubricating liquid silicone rubber (LSR) designed for healthcare device manufacturers seeking high-performance materials.
Intended for applications involving patient contact for up to 30 days, the two-part, addition-cure silicone elastomer combines lubricity, mechanical strength and efficient processing to support high-volume manufacturing. Its integrated lubricating technology creates a non-stick surface, while delayed oil bleed technology helps reduce mould fouling and maintain productivity. The material also offers good mould release properties for shorter production cycles, high tear strength and consistent processing performance.
Silbione LSR 4755 PF is suited to components requiring enhanced lubricity, including needle valves, check valves, duckbill valves, one-way valves and moulded parts designed to help prevent slit healing. It has been evaluated according to ISO 10993 requirements for applications involving less than 30 days of body contact, supporting its use in a range of medical and healthcare devices.
Aneta Clark, North American Market Manager for Healthcare at Bluestar Silicones, said healthcare manufacturers need materials that meet evolving regulatory requirements and sustainability goals without compromising performance or processing efficiency. She added that Silbione LSR 4755 PF offers a PFAS-free option combining low friction, effective mould release, high tear strength and efficient manufacturing.
