Japanese tyre maker Bridgestone’s US-based farm tyre manufacturing plant will lay off 69 workers beginning this week due to dropping demands for farm workers.
The laid off workers will receive 80 % of their salary as stipulated in the company’s agreement with United Steel Workers Local 310.
This follows the same move by farm equipment manufacturer Deere & Co who laid off about 1, 000 workers at their Iowa plants last year.
