THE NEWLY-formed Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Mississippi (YTMM), which is a manufacturing subsidiary of Yokohama Tire Corporation, officially broke ground on its new commercial truck tyre manufacturing plant in West Point, Mississippi. The said plant, which will be constructed on a 500-acre land, is targeted to commence operations in October 2015.
The event was attended by President and Representative Director of The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., Hikomitsu Noji; Yokohama executives, the Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant, several state officials and more than 350 guests.“
For the venture, Yokohama is making an initial US300 million investment; an estimated 500 jobs will be created at first phase. The 1 million sq ft plant will house production, warehousing and operations facilities, and will produce up to one million tyres annually.
