VMI Group fights IP infringement in China

VMI- tyre assembly

Dutch VMI Group has convinced the Chinese law enforcement to raid a Chinese company that is making equipment that replicates VMI’s tyre building drums. The results of the raid are now being examined by the Chinese courts and a ruling is expected soon.

VMI says the Chinese authorities supported its request and evidence was gathered that is now placing the alleged replicator in a predicament. “VMI is determined to persist with vigorous enforcement against infringements anywhere in the world,” it adds.

According to Harm Voortman, President/CEO of VMI, “It is an essential part of our strategy to protect our IP vigorously” said. “Our products are designed to be the best in the world. To achieve this we spend a lot of effort and money on Research and Development. Moreover our newly developed equipment is well protected by various patents around the world. When our IP is challenged, we need to proceed with the next step and bring wrongdoers to court to have them face legal consequences.”

VMI is a wholly owned subsidiary of TKH Group in the Netherlands. It is also the world’s leading producer of tyre manufacturing machinery, and offers global technical support from service centres in the Netherlands, the US, Brazil, China, Malaysia and Russia. It employs more than 1,000 people around the world.
