Dutch tyre machinery maker VMI recently celebrated the opening of three new production assembly halls at its manufacturing site in Leszno, Poland. This will bring the total available floorspace for production of VMI’s machinery in Poland to almost 30,000 sq m.
The expansion of VMI, which is part of Dutch technology company TKH, follows a number of years of high growth in VMI’s core business in the tyre and pharmaceutical industries. The additional production halls augments its global manufacturing footprint which includes facilities in the Netherlands and China.
In line with VMI’s commitment to sustainability, the new buildings are designed to match the environmental sustainability goals (ESG’s) which includes the use of LED lighting and solar power.
It adds that the investment will build on the success of the facility in Leszno which was inaugurated in 2017, and will enable the development of the highly skilled work-force to grow to over 200 within this year.
“This expansion is the next important step for VMI,” said Harm Voortman, CEO VMI Group. “By significantly increasing capacity in Poland, we enhance our ability to meet the needs of our customers and strengthen our global competitiveness.”
