Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) is concerned of cases of road accidents due to worn-out tryes and so it has launched a tyre inspection campaign.

The campaign runs August 9 until August 20.

The drive aims to ensure the safety of vehicle owners and road users with tyre blowout considered a major cause of traffic accidents in the UAE, especially during the summer months, said a statement from the QCC.

As part of the campaign, QCC inspectors will check the fitness of new and re-treaded tyres traded in the Abu Dhabi market, and inspect their compliance with relevant technical standards and safety requirements, it added.

Mohammed Helal Al Balooshi, marketing and communications director at QCC, said: “The campaign articulates our priority to prevent accidents caused by flawed and substandard tyres that are prone to bursting at high temperatures.”

“In following such stringent norms, we aim to ensure that the highest safety measures are followed in the storage and handling of tyres traded in Abu Dhabi markets,” he added.

The QCC was established in 2009 to raise the quality of the emirate’s exports and locally traded products, while protecting the interest of consumers and supporting the UAE’s competitive economy. – TradeArabia News Service
