Trelleborg to unload rubber boots plant in Spain

Trelleborg

Trelleborg will divest its facility based in Spain that manufactures rubber boots for light vehicles. The facility is part of the Trelleborg Industrial Solutions division and will be purchased by Delmon Industrie S.A.

According to Trelleborg, the market demand for thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) boots for constant velocity joints and rack and pinion is steadily increasing, while demand for rubber boots is shrinking. The divestment will not affect Trelleborg’s TPE boots operations, said the company.

“We believe a new owner of the operation is better placed to develop it and able to supplement shrinking production of rubber boots with new products, to maintain the operation in Spain,” said Mikael Fryklund, president of the Trelleborg Industrial Solutions division.

The transaction is expected to be concluded in the third quarter of 2014.
