Japan’s Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. is establishing a new plant in the Maharashtra Bidkin Industrial Area with the aim of expanding its business in the growing Indian automobile market. The new plant will produce large interior and exterior products, such as bumpers and instrument panels. Operations are scheduled to start in the first half of 2029, with new buildings constructed to meet the increasing production capacity of the Japanese auto whomakers are the company’s main customers.
The new plant will pursue efficient manufacturing with the latest large moulding machines, which can automatically change moulds and other setup, production management systems that utilize IoT and DX, “smart automated processes” that minimise investment costs by combining collaborative robots and karakuri technology and more.
It is being built as a branch plant of Toyoda Gosei Group company Toyoda Gosei South India Pvt. Ltd., and will be Toyoda Gosei’s eighth location in India. Products to be produced include interior/exteriors (bumpers, instrument panels); safety systems (airbags, steering wheels)
and functional components (plastic fuel filler pipes, etc.).
In addition to the compact cars that have driven demand to date, SUVs are becoming increasingly popular in India. Toyoda Gosei sees India as a key market, and will continue to establish its development and production network to contribute to safer and more comfortable mobility.
Toyota Motor Corp. has decided to build a new Toyota Kirloskar Motor plant in the Bidkin Industrial Area in Maharashtra, India. Production is scheduled to start in the first half of 2029.
