Top Glove inks deal with IT firms

Top Glove inks deal with IT firmsMALAYSIA-based glove manufacturer Top Glove has recently signed a pact with technology partners SAP Malaysia and Brightee Solutions for utilising IT across Top Glove’s business operations.

The three firms have banded together in myTGSAP Project, with Brightree implementing Sap’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications for Top Glove in the area of Production, Quality Management, Sales & Distribution, Materials Management, and Finance.

The myTGSAP Project is expected to benefit Top Glove in ways that include increasing automation (and minimising manual intervention) and thereby alleviating risks, reducing the cost of compliance, and standardising business operation activities. Moreover, the system will fully integrate all the information silos within Top Glove, to have a unified and integrated view of information in a single standard platform.

The goal is to provide managers with actionable information so they can analyse strategic options and take intelligent data-based action, ranging from business operation, product development, sourcing to transportation, human resources and investments. The collected data can be fully traced and analysed to provide decision makers with real-time insight.

The enhanced IT solutions will broaden Top Glove’s capabilities in capturing information from its business processes, since, currently, the company’s existing IT opera ion systems have certain limitations, said Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai, Chairman of Top Glove.

“With information separated from the operation, we are unable to fully utilise our data for analytics and decision making. This has hindered the potential for growth as information were siloed and the operation were decentralised. Furthermore, the traditional approach has presented challenges in terms of corporate governance, hence increased exposure to corporate and governance risk. SAP is the market leader in business application software and has been known as the leading ERP software provider, therefore, selecting them as our business partner is the natural way to go,” he added.

The myTGSAP project is expected to go live in the second half of 2013.(RJA)
