The Top Town Tyres building is on the market, as the company is moving to a bigger location near The Base. The company has been based on Te Rapa Rd since moving from Anglesea St in 2006.

Director Julian Tordoff said the company had outgrown 2433sqm the location. “When we came here I couldn’t believe we would fill it up,” he said.

Top Town will move to the $2.3 million, 6700sqm site in July 2015. The new location will be next to Harvey Norman. As well as the Top Town Tyres retail unit, the company will open a new wholesale business on the site called DTM Wheels.

Meanwhile, companies are being sought to buy or lease the current building. The asking price for the property at 674 Te Rapa Rd is $2.9 million. The property comes with 150 car parks.

Tordoff said the building, which faces on to an arterial route, would be suitable for “anybody that needs front-line promotion”.

Remax Pinnacle sales associate Peter Thomas said the site would be suitable for a variety of businesses.

“I think it’s quite an exciting listing. The whole Te Rapa has just gone gangbusters,” he said. “It’s early days yet, but we’re talking to a couple of national chains.”

The facility has back access suitable for trucks to deliver containers.

Thomas says the building is well-maintained and could be used for anything from manufacturing to retail.
