Due to growing costs, synthetic rubber maker Synthos says that it can no longer operate its Emulsion-SBR (ESBR) production at full capacity in light of current developments in connection with natural gas supplies from Russia to Europe and the resulting unsustainable and unpredictable utility costs that are a direct result of the geopolitical situation and the Russian invasion.
Against this background, the company will reduce ESBR production by approximately 30%, equivalent to around 100,000 tonnes/year effective immediately.
Synthos has announced that it will reduce ESBR production until further notice, while production of Solution-SBR and Butadiene Rubber production will continue to run as planned.
