 Sri Lanka forms a committee to develop rubber cultivation

Sri Lanka’s Minister Keheliya Rambukwella confirms the  approval of the proposed committee for the development of rubber cultivation and its affiliated industries in the country, the government news portal, News.Lk, reported.

The proposal was submitted by the Minister of Plantation, Ramesh Pathirana.

The Minister stated this at the media briefing held on March 2 at the Department of Government Information. He said that the committee is initiated to present policy recommendations to the government to ensure the good performance of the rubber sector value chain in Sri Lanka. It is chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and consists of representatives of other relevant Ministries and Institutions.

The committee also expects to meet the local demand for rubber and improve the quality of local rubber in the international market.
