POLARIS, a manufacturer of off-road vehicles (ORVs), including all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), had announced that it is commercially producing Non-Pneumatic Tyre (NPT), developed by Wisconsin-based Resilient Technologies that was acquired by Polaris in 2012. Following that, Polaris started supplying ATVs, equipped with airless tyres, to the US Military.
The airless tyre will be initially available for ATVs.
The fuel-saving NPT has an outer tread made of rubber, and is designed to provide the benefir if enhanced durability, no downtime for flat tyres, improved handling wuth high loads, excellent cornering and less noise even at high speeds.
