BMW presented Pirelli with its 2014 BMW Supplier Innovation Award in recognition of the tyremaker as an innovative supplier. Pirelli was awarded the ‘best innovation in quality’ prize at a ceremony hosted Oct. 5 in Amsterdam, for its real dynamic curing technology.
This technology, used by Pirelli throughout its factories, allows the optimal degree of vulcanization to be calculated for each tyre via the use of a thermal sensor.
Pirelli is also one of the key suppliers to BMW worldwide in terms of the amount of product provided, said the tyremaker. Additionally, Pirelli noted that it has more than 200 OE fitments for the BMW Group, in sizes from 16 to 21 inches.
