RM54 million for rubber replanting in Sarawak

The Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) intends to spend RM54 million on rubber replanting programme in Sarawak this year. A total area of 4,000 hectares will be targeted for the purpose , when identified smallholders are granted RM 13, 500 per hectare each.

Bus tyre contract for Goodyear

Goodyear has secured a sales contract with bus and coach operator, Sales-Lentz. Goodyear introduced Marathon Coach and Ultra Grip Coach tyre winning the contract with the Luxembourg-based company Sales-Lentz, which was involved in the field trials of new tyres and had equipped 22 coaches and buses for touring and local operations at the end of 2012.

European replacement tyre market contracts

The European Tyre and Rubber manufacturers association published today figures concerning its members’ sales in 2012. After two consecutive positive years – in which the total market expanded despite a decrease of European producers’ market share – the EU producers’ figures dropped in 2012, confirming that the economic crisis is far from being over.

Conti LifeCycle expands in the US

Continental Tire Americas’s Commercial Vehicle Tyre Business Unit has expanded its ContiLifeCycle footprint to the west coast of the US with a new licensee. Rovince International Corp. in Compton, California, is the latest retreader to adopt the ContiLifeCycle process.

Continental exceeds 2012 sales

In the past fiscal year, Germany-based automotive supplier Continental again exceeded its targets and despite slumping automotive markets in Europe, the firm boosted its 2012 sales by more than 7% to approximately EUR32.7 billion.
