New Kumho tyre plant to rise in Georgia

kumhoMaconKumho Tire Georgia representatives announces that an agreement has been reached that will allow Kumho Tire Georgia Inc. to begin construction of a new tyre manufacturing plant in Macon-Bibb county in the US state of Georgia.

The tyre maker will initially invest around US$200 million to build the new manufacturing plant that will employ over 300 people on a 150 acre site in the Sofkee Industrial Park located in Macon.

Kumho Tire is implementing its other projects, including the new R&D centre that opened in early September in Seoul, Korea.

The state of the art centre comprises a research building and testing facility, housing approximately 600 expert researches from Korea and abroad, industry-leading supercomputers and cutting-edge testing equipment to develop market-leading products, according to Kumho.

As for the new plant that will cater to the US clients, Kumho Tire Georgia president, Harry Choi, says, “Kumho Tire Georgia is committed to Macon-Bibb and the US tyre industry. We thank the community, our suppliers, our employees and our customers for their support.”
