New addition to Bridgestone’s tyres

Bridgestone Americas plans to launch the Blizzak DM-V2, a winter tyre for CUVs, SUVs and light trucks, in July for the 2015-16 winter season.

The new tyre, which will be available in 50 T- and H-rated sizes ranging from 15 to 22 inches in rim diameter, features an all-new tread pattern and offers several improvements over its predecessor, the Blizzak DM-V1, Bridgestone said.

According to the tyre maker, the DM-V2 has been designed with a “Multi-Cell” compound that dispels water from the surface of ice, combating slippage and improving braking. The new tyre also features a 15-percent increase in tread block edges, which Bridgestone said boosts its grip while driving on snow and slush.

Bridgestone added that it designed the DM-V2’s contact patch to create a uniform dispersion of pressure where the tyre meets the road, giving the tyre improved grip on ice and better overall stability.

“We’ve taken Bridgestone’s best winter tyre and made it even better,” said Justin Hayes, product manager, Bridgestone Americas. “Drivers can have peace of mind knowing that the Blizzak DM-V2 tyre is engineered with special technology that gives them impressive control when driving in every winter condition.”
