Small players in the Malaysian rubber industry were affirmed by the government that they will not be negatively affected by the rubber cess collection by the Sabah Rubber Industry.
Datuk Yahya Hussin, Deputy Ministter said on Monday that the small players can be assured and will continue to enjoy the subsidised rubber prices as the government will ensure that they will not be affected by the reinforcement of rubber cess collection that started after the amendments to the Rubber Industry Board Enactment 2012 were passed.
The enforcement gave the SRIB an authority to collect rubber cess following the rate of 2.2sen per kg or RM22 per tonne on all Sabah rubber exports.
The purpose of the cess is to finance the service programmes and progress of rubber small players in Sabah.
