Myanmar’s rubber exports drop

Myanmar exported more than 30,000 tonnes of rubber in the first seven months (April-October) of the present fiscal year 2014-15, down 238 tonnes from 30,238 tonnes a year earlier, according to the country’s Ministry of Commerce. The average price of raw rubber in the world market currently stands at US$1,700 per tonne, but that of Myanmar rubber is only US$1,300 due to failure to meet the quality standard. Myanmar targets to export up to 100,000 tonNEs of rubber in the current fiscal year. According to THE official statistics, Myanmar exported 86,500 tonnes of rubber in 2013-14, with a value of US$197.5 million.
