Momentive Performance Materials Inc. (Momentive) will present two technical posters highlighting the benefits of the new OphthaSil* silicone polymer product portfolio at the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) Clinical Conference and Exhibition May 29-31 held this year at the Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) in Liverpool, UK. Ophthasil silicone polymers offer contact lens manufacturers new innovations in lubricity, stability and cost-effectiveness.
The first technical poster will address the developments of siloxane materials that are fully water soluble and can be considered for use in contact lens formulations without organic solvents. This enables both a lower cost solution for manufacturers and enhanced lubricity of the hydrogel film. The second technical poster will address Momentive’s development of non-PEG (poly ethylene glycol) alternative siloxane materials that can help provide both inherent wettability and long term material stability to silicone hydrogel contacts lenses.
