Molecular Rebar Design unveils new MRO range for fuel-efficient tyres

Austin, Texas-domiciled Molecular Rebar Design (MRD) has developed a new generation of MRO for use in tyres, seeking less overall density with lower rolling resistance and improved toughness. The product, MRO Gen III has been developed based on feedback from the tyre industry, specifying a rebalancing of properties toward improved fuel efficiency and lower weight, versus toughness and wear resistance.

Molecular Rebar DesignMRO Gen III has been engineered to disperse into compounds with lower quantities of reinforcing carbon black, replacing up to one-half of the existing carbon black content with only38 (three- eighths) the quantity of nanotubes, per phr. This results in a less dense compound that has lower hysteresis and yet still retains the improved wear resistance as seen with previous Molecular Rebar (MR) product generations.

More information and sample of MRO Gen III can be obtained from Molecular Design Rebar’s North American distributor Swan Chemical, Inc, a subsidiary of Thomas Swan & Co. Ltd.
