Michelin nabs two awards at tech show

Michelin

French firm Michelin, as the world’s leading tyre industry brand, has continuously concentrated on tyre development and innovation, thus providing consumers all over the world with higher quality tyres and an unforgettable driving experience.

Michelin has earned approval and praise from leading industry experts at the Tyre Technology International show, held in Cologne, Germany, taking away two prestigious awards from the Tyre Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence 2015: tyre manufacturer of the year and tyre technology of the year, thus fulfilling their brand promise “A better way forward.”

New EverGrip Tech Earns Praise

Michelin’s win of the two awards is a show of the committee’s trust in their brand. The select committee, made up of leading industry experts, believes the awards are a testament to Michelin’s consistency and upholding of its promise. The earner of the most respected award, The Tyre Technology of the Year, is EverGrip Technology, implemented on Michelin’s newest Premier A/S (All Season) tyre. The EverGrip technology allows the new Premier A/S tyres to maintain friction as the tyre wears down in any kind of environment. Its grip on rainy ground is proven to be better than competitors, making the EverGrip technology highly praised by tyre experts.

Premier A/S, which has incorporated the new EverGrip technology, has a tuned up silicon proportion following precise calculations. Also, Michelin has also made improvements to tread blocks and the tread pattern design, creating a firmer and wider area for the tread grip. It has even implemented expanding rain grooves — when the tyre wears down, the rain grooves widen, maintaining its ability to remove water and deliver wet traction, thus reducing the chance of skidding and satisfying the consumer’s demands.

One of the members on the committee, Graham Heeps points out the innovative EverGrip technology uses an upgraded rubber formula incorporating the correct amount of silicon. In Michelin’s efforts to improve tyre safety and technology development, the new EverGrip is a substantial benefit to the industry.

From the Tweel airless wheel/tyre, the new Premier A/S which uses the EverGrip and the Formula E tyre for racing which was built using an electronic chip, all are positive testaments to Michelin’s active participation in the innovation area. Heeps elaborated that by giving consideration to innovation and practicality, Michelin has left a lasting impression upon him.

Jean-Pierre César, Michelin’s vice president of technical operations (passenger car and light truck worldwide), explains: “The successful launch of the Michelin Premier A/S tyre represents a significant breakthrough in automotive safety that is totally in line with our Michelin Total Performance strategy.”

Michelin believes the continuity of the industry’s future is extremely important for the advancement of humankind and society; therefore Michelin promises to continue on its efforts in the tyre industry, creating new and innovative solutions for safer, more efficient and environmentally friendly roads. In the future, Michelin plans to share its innovative techniques with the world as the world’s leading tyre brand, and in recognition of its responsibility for safer products.
