Kumho’s research and development team was set the challenge of creating and ultra-high performance tyre that doesn’t compromise performance handling for comfort and the result was the Solus HS51.

According to Kumho Tyre Australia national marketing and training manager David Basha, the Solus HS51 places importance on a smooth and quiet ride.

“The Solus HS51 is the beginning of a new era in high performance tyres,” said David Basha.

“Traditionally low profile performance tyres have been noisier and come with a slightly harsher ride but the HS51 will redefine how we think of ultra-high performance tyres.”

The key to the Solus HS51’s quiet and comfortable yet sporty ride is its non-directional tread pattern and compound.

Its tread design features a centralised ribbed pattern resulting reinforced blocks to aid in improving brake distances, particularly in the wet, while minimising the amount of road noise audible from within the cabin.

Water is effectively dispersed by the HS51’s four wide lateral grooves to give the driver peace of mind in the wet.

A strengthened shoulder gives the HS51 stability under the loads of performance cornering while notches in the shoulder blocks also aid in water channeling to ensure maximum contact with the road.

Kumho has implemented the latest developments in high grip silica compounds to ensure optimal grip in dry and wet conditions.

In comparisons against an equivalent Kumho tyre, the new HS51 recorded improvements every area in dry handling, wet handling, dry braking, wet braking, wet circuit and skid pan tests.

“The research and development team has outdone itself in the creation of the HS51,” added David.

“The Solus HS51 UHP tyre proves there is such a thing as smooth performance motoring.”

Drivers also have the option of adding Kumho’s innovative ‘No Worries’ road hazard warranty when purchasing the Solus HS51 for added peace of mind.

For the small price of $3.95 per tyre, the road hazard warranty covers potential tyre damage from debris, potholes and gutters for 12 months after fitment or the first 25 per cent of tread life.

The Solus HS51 is available in 32 sizes ranging from 15 to 17 inches with 14 sizes available with an XL extra load rating – making it ideal for a range of locally made and imported vehicles including: BMW 3 Series, Audi TT, A3 and A4, Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon as well as many Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Kia and Hyundai models to name a few.
