Kerala government announces latex subsidy

The Kerala government ha announced that it will provide latex subsidy.

This is a part of its Rubber Production Incentive Package.

The additional amount being given to rubber for ensuring Rs.150 per kg for rubber would be given as subsidy to latex too.

Finance Department has consented to give the subsidy in the wake of the recurring demand from rubber growers for latex subsidy.

The helpline set up on implementing the package, 9446002577 became active on Saturday.

Of the 500-odd complaints received for availing themselves of the package, a majority was on registering the rubber of the dead growers. There were impediments in registering the land of those without title-deeds.

Officials clarify that written applications should be submitted to the Finance Secretary directly to avail themselves of the scheme benefits.

Many had complained against the decision to make Aadhar Card mandatory for submitting applications, but the government has dismissed such complaints.

Growers complain that certain cooperative societies were collecting Rs.100 to Rs.300 as registration fees for submitting applications for the scheme.

Finance Department officials had agreed to look into such complaints.
