Swedish firm Hexpol Compounding has acquired US-based rubber compounder Robbins Holdings, including Robbins LLC, which also makes moulded envelopes and curing tubes for truck, heavy equipment and airplane tyres, for US$90 million. The acquisition is expected to broaden Hexpol’s presence in rubber compounds into end user markets like agriculture, mining, oil and gas. The acquisition is funded by a combination of cash and existing bank loans. Robbins has an estimated annual turnover of approximately US$100 million with around 240 employees and has three production facilities in the US. (RJA)
