Hankook sets up German subsidiary for auto battery

Hankook & Company Co., Ltd., the holding company of Hankook Tire & Technology Co Ltd, has established the Hankook & Company ES Deutschland GmbH under its Energy Solution (ES) Business Headquarters to supply Hankook branded batteries directly to European markets. The battery subsidiary in Frankfurt is Hankook & Company’s first in Europe, with the goal of creating an efficient supply chain for its premium batteries for customers and expanding its business in the region. Hankook says that its AGM batteries offer the best value for Start-Stop vehicles and premium vehicles, while its EFB batteries feature enhanced MF technology that performs well in entry-level start-stop vehicles and general vehicles.

Furthermore, the new Hankook MF batteries from the brand offer a revolutionary battery technology that supports the best driving performance based on stable power supply in all weather conditions. All three products feature advanced X-Frame Tech, which provides longer battery life and improved engine start-up performance when compared to existing MF batteries.

Hankook & Company previously established a presence in Frankfurt in 2019. Key factors such as future synergies were considered because the company and its affiliate Hankook Tire share the global brand Hankook. Hankook Tire has supplied tyres to German premium car makers including Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi, and has experienced significant growth in the European market.

Hankook & Company launched its AGM battery for the Idle Stop & Go system in 2005, after introducing the first maintenance-free battery in Korea in 1982, and later developed ultra-high performance batteries (UHPB) in 2013. Through its four global sales bases in the US, Europe, and Dubai, three international and domestic production facilities, and its R&D centre, the brand serves approximately 450 clients in 100 countries.
