The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has introduced what it claims is the “most fuel-efficient long haul drive tyre in North America,” the Goodyear Fuel Max LHD G505D. The premium category tyre will replace Goodyear’s G305 AT LHD, set to phase out by the end of 2014, and will be available in size 295/75R22.5, load range G.
“Fuel is the number-one cost for trucking fleets,” said Brian Buckham, general manager of product marketing for Goodyear’s Commercial Tire Systems. “Goodyear has re-written the book on fuel efficiency with the Goodyear Fuel Max LHD G505D. This tyre is a must-have for fleets that are serious about reducing their cost-per-mile.”
The tyre, which is in the process of achieving SmartWay-verification, also features:
“Our goal is to help fleets lower their cost-per-mile,” said Buckham. “Helping them optimize their trucks’ fuel efficiency is a big part of this process. With the introduction of the Goodyear Fuel Max LHD G505D, Goodyear is staking its claim as North America’s long haul drive tyre fuel economy leader.”
Buckham noted that the addition of this tyre rounds out Goodyear’s fleet offerings. The G572A long-haul drive tyre will still be sold for fleets that value long-mileage, while the G505D is available for fleets that seeking high fuel-savings.
The G505D long-haul drive tyre is available as of Sept. 1.
