A new report by Research and Markets predicts that Global Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) market will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.85% until 2019.
Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR), commonly known as Buna-N or nitrile rubber, is formed by the copolymerization of butadiene and acrylonitrile. It is mainly used in the Automotive and Industrial sectors and is known as the workforce of rubber products in these sectors. Compared to natural rubbers, it is resistant to heat, puncture, fuel, and many chemicals. NBR is used in many applications, such as hose, belting, and cable, O-rings and seals, industrial and medical gloves, molded and extruded products, adhesives and sealants, sponges, footwear and others.
Further, the report states that a decline in the demand for NBR in the PVC Modification sector is one of the major challenges confronting the market. The market in North America is experiencing sluggish growth because substitutes such as thermoplastic polyester elastomers and thermoplastic polyolefins are replacing NBR.
