Bridgestone Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan-headquartered tyre maker, Bridgestone Corporation, opened its Myanmar branch office in Yangon. The office will focus on gathering information on thetruck, bus, car manufacturing industries and tyre markets, as well asconduct related activities on behalf of the regional head office. Previously, the company has been offering its products in Myanmar since the 90s via local channels.
Kunitoshi Takeda, Member of the Board and COO of BSCAP says that the easing of foreign investment laws has attracted many automobile companies to set up base in the fast-growing Myanmar, where transportation infrastructures such as roads are rapidly improving. With the new branch also making headway into Myanmar, Takeda adds that Bridgestone aims to become the top tyre brand in the country.
