Dow-Corning

Dow Corning, a global leader in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation, is launching here today at the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) Suppliers’ Day 2014 (booth #921), Dow Corning® ES-5600 Silicone Glycerol Emulsifier. This innovative water-in-oil emulsifier with diglycerol hydrophilic functionality enables formulators to achieve exceptional performance in polyethylene glycol (PEG)-free systems to meet increasing consumer demand for high-end cosmetics. Dow Corning ES-5600 Silicone Glycerol Emulsifier provides high dispersion capabilities for color intensity and even tone. It also delivers outstanding oil phase flexibility for multiple formulation options to meet increasing consumer demand for such improved sensory benefits as smooth texture, comfortable wear and low odor.

“Dow Corning is a proactive innovator and industry leader drawing on 50 years of experience supporting global customers along the entire beauty care value chain,” said Verna Talcott, North America Skin Care regional market leader, Dow Corning. “Our exciting new ES-5600 Emulsifier is a perfect example of this leadership. It builds on our broad and deep market and technological expertise with new features that address important trends, including the move to multi-performance cosmetics such as all-in-one alphabet creams and higher performing sun care products. Dow Corning is strongly committed to creating innovative products that help our customers stay ahead of the competitive curve.”

High-Performance Emulsifier
New Dow Corning ES-5600 Silicone Glycerol Emulsion offers exceptional oil phase flexibility, emulsifying a wide range of silicone/organic oil ratios with higher performance compared to traditional PEG emulsifiers. It creates emulsions with small particle size and offers high stability for liquid foundations, color cosmetics and sun care products. Unlike traditional materials it produces lower-viscosity emulsions for various combinations of silicone and organic oils. Further, Dow Corning ES-5600 Silicone Glycerol Emulsion makes formulations significantly more attractive by providing color intensity to foundations and improving the performance of sunscreens – without the use of materials containing PEG.

High-Performance Dispersant
ES-5600 Silicone Glycerol Emulsion is a highly effective dispersant for pigments and fine particles such as titanium dioxide sunscreen, offering homogeneity and stability even at high temperatures. Cosmetics manufacturers benefit from its unique color intensity, uniform coverage for even skin tone and enhanced sunscreen sensory performance, including easier spreadability and less whitening and tackiness than competitive products. The new emulsifier is well-suited for standard and PEG-free formulations.

Dow Corning is displaying a number of formulation kits at its booth. These include:  Instant Nude CC cream, ActiSun suncare body lotion, Smooth Screen face care with high sun protection, Comfort Me nourishing balm for dry skin, Make Me Breathe purifying gel cream, Boost Me revitalizing skin gel and No Stress roll-on antiperspirant deodorant.
